The City of Atlanta released the ATL26 Human Rights Action Plan on Monday, a framework to ensure that the city’s values are upheld during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June and July.
Guided by the principle that the sports event “should happen with Atlanta, and not to Atlanta,” city officials say that each initiative has been created to protect and involve community members.
Development of the plan included over 75 hours of community engagement, over 25 organizations participating in public Community Engagement Sessions and cross-functional partnerships between several City of Atlanta internal teams.
