The Georgia Senate on Monday passed a bill that would change Georgia’s time zone and eliminate the twice-annual changing of the clocks.

House Bill 154 would have the state petition the U.S. Department of Transportation to change Georgia from the Eastern time zone to the Atlantic time zone. If approved by Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Georgia would observe Atlantic Standard Time year-round.

State Sen. Bo Hatchett, a Republican from Cornelia, says he’s pushing the measure because it’s time to stop changing the clocks in Georgia.
