DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County School Board, at its April 20 meeting, heard from frustrated parents representing schools facing closure, who expressed their discontent with the school system’s redistricting effort.
DeKalb Schools’ closure, redistricting and consolidation process is called the Student Assignment Project (SAP).
The latest SAP recommendation proposes closing many elementary schools in DeKalb County and merging several middle and high schools. It will also begin capital projects and expansions for others to increase financial efficiency amid declining enrollment.
