Gwinnett County is creating a homelessness task force. The idea is to find gaps in services, gather input from the public and look at approaches other communities have taken.
“This is about innovation and driving towards new solutions that can better serve the population,” Matthew Elder, deputy director for Gwinnett County Planning and Development, said.
The group will include local political leaders, businesses and non-profits. The county hasn’t announced appointments yet, but Elder said they’re looking to move forward quickly.

“Beginning meetings and beginning to bring in different partners and different providers to talk about what issues they’re experiencing on the ground, but also hear from those who have lived experience and what they’re going through or have gone through previously,” he said.
