Georgia was among about a third of U.S. states that took up abortion during this year’s legislative session. In fact, Stateline reports more abortion laws were enacted this year than at any point since 1973. That’s the year the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade.

But Abortion wasn’t the only shared topic of interest between states. From renewable energy to marijuana to data privacy, certain trends arose in capitols from Juneau to Tallahassee.

To find out more about this year’s legislative trends, WABE’s Jim Burress spoke with Noelle Straub, Stateline’s deputy managing editor. They began the conversation with a look at the effect of the 2017 Equifax data breach of 147-million consumers’ personal information and whether it’s influencing states’ discussions on data privacy and protection.
