The new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is scheduled to open May 16th.

But airport officials don’t plan to wait for “day one” to learn of any complications.

That’s why they’re looking for 1,500 volunteers— people who will give the new terminal a ‘dry run’ and leave feedback.

“The goal is to really simulate an operational day,”  says airport spokesman Al Snedeker.  “Passengers will come in.  They’ll have been provided with scripts, traveling to different locations from different gates at different times, and also working in some different experiences for them along the way.”

So don’t be surprised if a fellow passenger has a medical emergency, for example.

“Travelers” are also asked to bring some luggage so airport officials can ensure the baggage system works properly.

Friday is the deadline to apply.  Snedeker says more than a thousand people have already submitted applications.
