Dr. Susan R. Bailey, who was recently named the president of the AMA, says the association recently launched a new initiative called the #MaskUp campaign.

Bailey says the campaign, which started in early August, was created to debunk myths about mask-wearing and to encourage everyone to wear masks in public.

“Wearing a mask decreases your chance of getting coronavirus from someone else. It decreases their chance of getting it from you because you might be spreading it and feel perfectly fine, and if you both are wearing a mask, the risk drops down close to zero,” says Bailey.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Bailey talks with host Rose Scott about the #MaskUp campaign and how AMA is making sure physicians have trusted, reliable and validated resources during the global health crisis.

During the conversation, Bailey also shares her thoughts on what the future could look like post-pandemic.
