Another E-scooter Company Is Rolling Into Atlanta

Spin scooters’ expansion comes as the dockless vechicle startup looks to grow in several U.S. cities after Ford bought it late last year to strengthen its mobility business.

San Francisco startup Spin is quietly growing its fleet of electric scooters across Atlanta.

Last month, Atlanta issued permits for 2,000 e-scooters operated by Spin, according to a new report from the City Department of Planning. The expansion comes as the dockless vechicle startup looks to grow in several U.S. cities after Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) bought it late last year to strengthen its mobility business.

In Atlanta, Spin will go up against competitors Bird, Lime and ride-hailing giant Lyft, which are the largest e-scooter operators in the city. All of those companies are growing their own fleets.
