Comic powerhouse Donnell Rawlings returns to metro Atlanta Nov. 21–23 with a weekend of shows at Atlanta Comedy Theater. Known for his explosive presence on “Chappelle’s Show,” his sharp online persona, and a stand-up career now stretching past three decades, Rawlings talked with WABE Arts about what keeps him onstage — and why audiences still show up for his unpredictable style.
‘Authentic, unfiltered, honest’
Rawlings describes his comedy approach in stark terms.
“Unhinged, authentic, unfiltered, honest, transparent and what we need right now,” he says. “I always say… a joke could be too soon, but it could never be too soon for a funny observation.”
