Employees at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport can now get free rides to and from work through a new, on-demand commuting service. The resource is meant to help bridge the transportation gap for workers.

Shift On Demand, also referred to as Shift, is similar to Uber for airport employees. The Atlanta Airport Community Improvement Districts and software company, Via, launched the free app-based service.

“It took a lot of careful work. A lot of data analysis to make sure that we were capturing the right areas to make sure that we’re expanding access for folks who maybe live in that area, giving them a direct route to get to work,” said Tyrone Smith, who works as a partnership lead with Via.
