If you’ve ever flown out of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, odds are you’re among the millions of people who have seen the work of Oscar “Spike” Harris.

For over forty years, the Atlanta architect has left his mark on much of modern Atlanta. Harris’ firm, Turner Associates, designed everything from MARTA stations, lamps in Centennial Olympic Park and the atrium inside “the world’s busiest airport.”

“I recall when we planned this space, the whole idea was to let the personality of the day come into the center,” said Harris while admiring clouds through the central skylight. “That means on a sunny day this is going to be bright, sunlight is going to come in here to soothe passengers’ nerves.”
