The Pinx are an Atlanta mainstay in the rock and roll scene, a band known for classic songwriting in a zesty blend of hard rock, blues, soul, and psychedelia.

“City Lights” heard from frontman Adam McIntyre, a Swiss army knife of instrumental talent who contributes vocals and guitar to the Pinx while also well-versed in drums, bass and keys. McIntyre recounted a pivotal moment in his childhood, when he was first introduced to the rock stage. “When I was about nine years old, I was graciously invited up on stage with Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces,” he said. “They showed me where to put my fingers and when to play, and they really didn’t have to do that. These guys had had a hit, ‘Searching for My Baby,’ on Chess Records… but their kindness put me in front of an enthusiastic audience for the first time.” McIntyre added, “I just wanted to do that again, every night, for the rest of my life.”

As an adult, McIntyre left his former residence of Nashville, frustrated with what he considered a “fake” music scene. He chose Atlanta, a city he says “encourages its musicians and artists to be the biggest versions of themselves.” He also offered a passionate appeal for the preservation of the Star Community Bar, a longtime Little 5 Points music venue where the Pinx performed their first live show. Four Pinx albums later, the band has released their self-titled “definitive statement,” an LP featuring the single “Break Your Heart.”
