On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Art,” local artists share insights into their influences, processes and experiences in town. This edition features “Emotional Artist” Arnold Butler. Butler doesn’t subscribe to any technique.

He simply allows his emotions to guide every brushstroke. “Art is therapy for me,” says Butler. “I paint to help translate emotions in me that I find difficult to communicate verbally. I like to tell people I don’t paint pictures; I paint my prayers.”
