Did you stand at Centennial Olympic Park 20 years ago ─ shirt and hat bedazzled with shiny enamel pins, a fanny pack around your waist and stuffed with necessities for the Atlanta heat, and an Izzy doll in hand?
This Saturday you can relive the glory and gold of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Atlantans Remember The 1996 Summer Olympic Games
The free party begins at 5 p.m. and will include a VIP list of gold medal winners, Atlanta officials, Olympic Games volunteers and musical performances by A-Town A-List, Colby Dee, Banks & Shane and SEEiT Choir. Fireworks and food trucks will also be part of the celebration.
The 1996 Olympics in Atlanta were not only the first games in the Southeast, but the event also marked the 100th anniversary of the modern games.
