An investigative report from Atlanta Community Press Collective (ACPC) reveals that the City of Atlanta is expected to pay more than double the amount for a proposed police and fire training facility nicknamed “Cop City” by opponents.

Initially, through an agreement between the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Foundation, the city agreed to pay one-third of the $90 million for the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center,

But the report reveals that Atlanta taxpayers could pay more than $50 million. It comes just days before the Atlanta City Council is scheduled to vote on the funding for the facility.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Matt Scott, a reporter with ACPC, discussed the increased costs to taxpayers for the proposed facility.
