Atlanta’s housing market is experiencing a slowdown compared to last year.

Sales, listings, and prices have all declined due to rising mortgage rates, making it harder for buyers to afford homes.

However, there are still people moving to Atlanta and needing to buy houses, and the limited inventory can lead to bidding wars for the right properties.

Chris Fuhrmeister is a reporter covering real estate for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he spoke to WABE about what’s causing the slowdown.

He said that despite the overall slowdown, Atlanta’s housing market is faring better than some West Coast markets.

The number of real estate agents has increased, according to Fuhrmeister, but they are facing challenges due to the decreased business.
