Atlanta’s 2018 Peach Drop: What You Need To Know
The annual New Year’s eve celebration will happen in a new spot this year.
For better or worse, with the collapse of major infrastructure, a total solar eclipse and one of the most expensive House races in history, Atlanta has had a busy year. And there are only a couple days left until the city gathers downtown to usher in 2018.
This year, though, that’s happening in a new location. After 28 years of dropping at Underground Atlanta, according to the AJC, the 8-foot peach now will drop from the Flatiron Building across from Woodruff Park, “in a continued effort to revitalize Downtown,” according to a City of Atlanta press release.
Because of the changes to this year’s New Year’s Eve festivities, WABE has compiled all the information, including a map, you will need to know to ring in the New Year on-location.

Where:
The peach will be lowered from the Flatiron Building, which first opened in 1897, according to the City of Atlanta. Festivities take place at Woodruff Park, across the street from the historic building. Access points to the park will be at:
The corner of Auburn Avenue and Park Place
The corner of Edgewood Avenue and Park Place
The corner of Peachtree Street and Edgewood Avenue
The corner of Peachtree Street and Walton Street
The two nearest MARTA stations are Peachtree Center station and Five Points station.
When:
The park will open at 5:30 p.m. and entertainment will begin at 7:00 p.m.
What:
In addition to the Peach Drop itself, the event will be hosted by Ryan Cameron of V103, as well as Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Lucror Resources managing principal Arun Nijhawan.
Admission to the celebration is free.
