Atlanta's Wolfgang Gallery displays London artist Stephen Thorpe

Painting by Stephen Thorpe. (Benjamin Deaton)

The Wolfgang Gallery materialized into Atlanta’s art scene in 2022, established by director Benjamin Deaton and his wife Dot Deaton, and named after their nascent son. The gallery is dedicated to showcasing emerging and mid-career artists in the contemporary art world both domestic and international.

Wolfgang opened a new collection of work to the public on March 22, bringing Atlanta the work of London-born, New York-based artist Stephen Thorpe. Thorpe’s oil paintings imagine otherworldly possibilities within domestic spaces and his show is called “Who Looks Outside, Dreams; Who Looks Inside, Awakes.” The show runs through May 18.

Thorpe joins Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” along with Benjamin Deaton to discuss the new opening and how Wolfgang Gallery came to be.
