ABOUT THE LESSON PLANS
WABE has partnered with the Georgia Department of Education to develop 8th grade Social Studies and High School U.S. History lesson plans written for teachers, by teachers. These robust plans offer students a fresh way of learning history.
The plans are aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence for Social Studies as well as the national College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies. They include teacher directions, handouts, source material, and instructional strategies. They can be used in sequence or as modular activities to address several themes explored in schools including voting rights, the 1946 governor’s race, U.S. International and domestic policy and more. The lesson plans received the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) award for Division 2 Educational Resources for the Community in January 2020.
