Comedian, Georgia Native Sarah Tiana On Entertaining Troops And More
Growing up in Calhoun, Georgia, Sarah Tiana did not originally dream of becoming a stand-up comedian. Yet the L.A.-based Southern transplant has stayed true to her roots over her acting and comedy career, landing gigs on “Reno 911!” and Brad Paisley’s “Comedy Rodeo” Netflix special.
She’s making her Punchline Comedy Club debut in Atlanta this weekend, and Tiana joined Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to discuss her career, which includes 12 tours of comedy for the troops since 2005.
Tiana said that a lot of boys from her hometown brigade were sent to Iraq, so she found a way to join them in solidarity. She also took the opportunity to learn more about the war from the generals and high-ranking officers she met: “I had a lot of questions, and I wanted to find out what it was really like over there.”
Tiana performs at the Punchline Comedy Club on Friday and Saturday evening.
