Summary:

Join an innovative and dynamic team looking for a creative, energetic, driven and detail-oriented creative lead to take its brand to the next level. The creative lead will plan and execute the development of visual output across multiple platforms including print, digital, and television.  This position is responsible for the strategy behind the visual representation of the brand and material produced by the organization and supports departments ranging from content to marketing to fundraising and more. This role offers an opportunity to play a major role in the creative direction and output of a respected community leader that is looking for a strong visual contributor and strategist.

Accountability:
  • Work in a deadline-driven media organization to conceive and create all graphics for the organization, including content pieces, promotions, presentation materials, and infographics.
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving to create compelling graphics and illustrate complex messages, often with minimal guidance.
  • Consider innovation a standard process of developing all work product.
  • Ensure that organizational brand identity guidelines and best practices are maintained for all graphic elements.
  • Work with departments to understand needs and to develop direction, concepts, and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Be adept at working across an organization, serving as the subject matter expert on all things visual.
  • Transform an abstract concept into an effective design solution that solves the overall business objective.
  • Coordinate and maintain electronic graphics/photo library.
  • Direct additional design staff when utilized.
  • Perform other graphic duties as assigned.
Design Responsibilities:
  • Manage design system across the organization to support all departments and needs.
  • Create journalistically driven interactive visualizations and visual storytelling assets from concept to final product.
  • Conceptualize and develop concepts for posters, collateral and other promotional/marketing items.
  • Conceive and design materials to support various fundraising and revenue-generating activities and other promotional endeavors, ensuring visual homogeny across the brands, especially when working with outside partners.
  • Conceive and design a visual identity for email newsletters or other audience communication.
  • Help to oversee and supplement the social media visual presence of the organization, working with the content and marketing teams.
  • Art direct and design pages and special sections within a WordPress CMS environment for the website(s).
  • Serve as internal creative primary for an upcoming website redesign to be undertaken with an outside vendor.

Preferred Software/ Program Experience:
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Edge Animate
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Social Media Platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter
  • Motion graphics software experience preferred
  • Mac and PC Proficient
Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in graphic design, visual communication, interactive multimedia design or closely related media arts field.
  • 5+ years of related experience with at least two years leading a major project or team.
  • Experience as an illustrator and/or animator is preferred.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Position, at least initially, will be located off-site in accordance with station policy on off-site work for most staff in response to coronavirus. Candidates must be willing and able to work from home but provide their own transportation to the station once off-site work conditions are lifted.
