Information Technology & Digital Systems Manager
The Information Technology and Digital Systems Manager is part of the WABE Media & Business Technology department and is responsible for managing all aspects of WABE’s technology infrastructure and digital systems. This position will work closely with other departments to ensure that our organization is equipped with the necessary tools and systems to succeed in a fast-paced digital landscape.
Accountabilities:
- Manage and maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
- Evaluates current technology use and needs of the company and recommend software & hardware improvements.
- Manage a media organization’s digital technology and architecture needs from mobile, web, social, streaming, video, audio, and other digital platforms.
- Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, technical support, and repair of broadcast technologies for TV/Radio, production, and IT equipment across multiple platforms. Create technical solutions for unique complex problems.
- Maintain all transmissions, monitoring, and troubleshooting for TV/Radio, Linear Streaming, and OTT platforms.
- Installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software.
- Understand and implement broadcast formats and streaming technologies from studio and post-production to master control and distribution.
- Knowledge and experience in IP transport technology principles and broadcast technologies design & support.
- Understand various audio/video compressions.
- Detailed understanding and willingness to learn all aspects of IT networking, Firewalls, Fiber-Optics, MPEG, SAN and RAID-based systems, IP, DNS, SNMP, and Active Directory.
- Experience with Windows, Apple, and Linux OS. Understand and execute remote monitoring capabilities via computer equipment and software applications.
- Troubleshooting abilities in IP and digital audio/video computer systems.
- Experience in live, remote, and studio production environments
- Experience managing multiple priorities within time-sensitive environments.
- Prepares and maintains various technical records and engineering logs pertaining to broadcast equipment and performance following FCC broadcast rules and regulations.
- Works collaboratively to solve problems, achieve common goals, and positive results; receptive to feedback, listen to others, and values opinions.
- Maintain strong relationships with cross-departmental colleagues to stay apprised of technical issues that can be resolved quickly.
- Manage non-linear broadcast and digital production
- technology and platforms and deliver next-generation services and solutions, working with teams in-house and external suppliers
- Strategic and economic/financial analysis/management
- Manage others on the team.
- Manage all IP connectivity.
- Ensure the smooth running of digital systems, including content management systems, streaming solutions, and online platforms.
- Plan and execute technology upgrades, including hardware and software upgrades, and ensure the organization’s IT systems are up-to-date and secure.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring the organization can continue to operate in the event of an outage or disaster.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for data privacy, security, and backup.
- Manage the organization’s cybersecurity, including implementing security measures, monitoring security risks, and responding to security incidents.
- Lead and manage the IT team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that IT systems and digital platforms meet their needs and support the organization’s mission.
- Manage WABE’s managed helpdesk and security service providers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT management.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, including networks, servers, storage, and cybersecurity
- Strong focus on execution

- Experience managing digital media platforms and content management systems.
- Proven track record of managing technology upgrades and implementing IT projects.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
