Data & Research Analyst
The Research & Data Analyst position is part of the WABE Underwriting Sales department and supports other major departments such as Marketing, Finance, Development, Grants, CEO, and IT. The best person for this position will be able to harness the insights from various forms of data to gather business intelligence including competitive analysis, benchmarking, progress dashboards, data visualization & audience profiles. The education, knowledge, experience, core competencies, and technical skills outlined below are requirements for this position.
The Research & Data Analyst role will provide the company with a diversity of skills to enhance productivity and profitability.
To qualify, an individual must have solid analytical skills and capable of working across numerous functional areas.
It is expected that the Analyst will engage in assignments across the organization. Workplace rotations may be possible depending on individual or business need.
Accountabilities:
- Competitive analysis on Atlanta region news and local content providers; study marketplace dynamics
- Benchmarking within the public media system across the US – understand our position and areas for improvement
- Support Underwriting Sales, CCO, CFO, CEO and other department management with key analyses of Audience Research & Demographic Insights.
- Create and regularly update a dashboard on progress toward goals (management, leadership team and board of directors) & Audience engagement levels across all WABE media assets
- The analyst will collect and analyze information and data pertaining to a variety of functions within the organization. The position will assist with coordination of reporting of departmental metrics and serves as a subject matter expert for process improvement and reporting related to events and activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Marketing or Business/Management-related preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong MS Excel experience.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis and modeling tools available in MS Excel, in particular the ability to ensure model integrity, build modifications and apply the models to business decisions.
- Understanding of how to apply data insights into actionable business plans.
- Experience with databases, database access, data interpretation, strategy development, process improvement, and data presentation.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills, such as the ability to handle, interpret and translate studies of numbers and data.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, data visualization and modeling tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.), the ability to ensure model integrity, build modifications and apply the models to business decisions.
- Ability to present data, results, conclusions, and recommendations derived from analysis to a wide audience, internal or external, and via different channels (verbal, written reports or communications, presentations, etc.).
- Programming experience or understanding of programming logic, as required by the applicable area of the organization (SQL, etc.).
- Ability to run, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify the existing tools and models as well as build and develop new ones, as required by the applicable area of the organization.
- Comfortable working with Web/Google Analytics, Meta & Social data.
- Experience with Media related research, such as Nielsen Research databases, Scarborough, Edison, Jacobs Media,Triton Metrics, Podcast data, etc. is preferred.
