‘Dreamer’ Raised In Georgia — Now A Med Student — Feels Shut Out

Belsy Garcia Manrique has a goal of becoming a doctor who can bridge the cultural gulf that exists between minority patients and the medical establishment. For most of her life, U.S. immigration policy effectively blocked her path to medical school. She continues to pursue her dream, even if it doesn’t lead her back to Georgia.
