On the heels of the announcement of two new, promising COVID-19 vaccines, new coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to surge across the country.

This is all happening one week before Thanksgiving, as many states announce new lockdowns and restrictions.

Jodie Guest, a professor and vice chair of the Department of Epidemiology at Rollins School of Public Health and associate program director for the Physician Assistant Program at the School of Medicine at Emory University, joined Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

Guest talks with host Rose Scott about several coronavirus-related topics, including the U.S. Federal Drug Administration’s emergency-use authorization of the first at-home rapid COVID-19 testing kit.

Guest also discusses ways to combat the global health crisis, shares her thoughts about Thanksgiving gatherings during the pandemic and the need for all states to follow the same guidelines as it relates to handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
