MAKING BLACK AMERICA: THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE WITH HENRY LOUIS GATES, JR.

Enjoy screenings and discussions of clips from MAKING BLACK AMERICA: THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, the four-part PBS series from executive producer, host, and writer Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., that chronicles the vast social networks and organizations created by and for Black people—beyond the reach of the “White gaze.” The series features interviews with Charles M. Blow, Angela Davis, André Holland, Fab 5 Freddie, Jason King, Killer Mike, and other notable Black Americans offering perspectives of the world behind the color line and what it looks like today. The evening is co-hosted by Jazz 91.9 WCLK.

Joining Rose Scott in conversation about the series will be:

  • David C. Linton—WCLK 91.9 Program Director 
  • Illya Davis—Morehouse College Director of the New Students & Transition Program
  • Dr. Cynthia Neal Spence—Spelman College Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the UNCF/Mellon Programs.
