Jazz is filled with a complex history of cultural partnerships.

None are more in tune with the rich history of jazz than pianist Joe Alterman and the Rev. Dwight Andrews, senior pastor at First Congregational Church.

Andrews will speak with jazz pianist Ben Sidran at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct 17, at First Congregational Church downtown.

The discussion will explore the cultural partnership of Jewish Americans and African Americans in popular music.

Alterman and Andrews spoke recently with host Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” about Thursday’s event and the cultural history of jazz.
