Featured Film Explores Going Green in Death

There were four dedicated green burial cemeteries in the nation in 2007, according to the Green Burial Council. By last year, that number had jumped—to 40.

Green burial is “eco-friendly” interment, with no embalming, vaults, or anything that doesn’t biodegrade completely. (WABE did this story a couple of years back on Honey Creek Woodlands, a green burial cemetery in Conyers.)

This Saturday, Atlantans will have another chance to explore the trend, as The Atlanta Film Festival screens “A Will for the Woods” as its featured documentary.  The film explores green burial through the story of one man who has made the decision to be buried this way.

WABE’s Kate Sweeney sat down with two of the filmmakers to learn more. She began by asking Amy Browne and Jeremy Kaplan to talk about the moment they realized Clark Wang was the ideal subject to tell their story through.
