A mesmerizing menagerie of mythical beasts and birds awaits visitors to the Fernbank Museum.
Oaxacan artists and artisans Jacobo and María Ángeles run an artisan workshop in Southern Mexico that creates the sculptures on view, drawing inspiration from indigenous Zapotec legend and tradition.
The exhibition, “Spirit Guides: Fantastical Creatures from the Workshop of Jacobo and María Ángeles,” is currently on view at Fernbank through Aug. 3. “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with curator Ricardo Ángeles about the outdoor exhibition.
