The Trump administration is moving to dissolve the U.S Department of Education. If passed by Congress, the measure would shrink federal oversight and give more control to the states.

The U.S. Department of Education announced six new interagency agreements in November with four agencies to transfer program management.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” program host Rose Scott talked with Erika Mitchell, the former board chair of the Atlanta Board of Education. During the conversation, Mitchell discusses the current state of K-12 public education in the U.S. and shares the achievements and remaining challenges for urban school districts.
