Since its founding in 1996, Atlanta’s Theatre du Reve, or “Theater of the Dream,” has carved out a one-of-a-kind path for Francophone theater in the local arts community, celebrating French language, history and performance on partner stages throughout the city.

This year, the company’s founding director, Carolyn Cook, bids adieu, retiring from Theatre du Reve after nearly 30 years.

On May 5, she’ll be honored in a special reception following the clown duo “Pinot and Augustine” performance at 7 Stages in collaboration with Baltimore’s Happenstance Theater. “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with Cook about her career at Theatre du Reve, and where her dreams might take her next.

“It’s been really exciting, and I called the company Theatre du Reve because it’s been a dream I’ve had since my junior year of college,” said Cook. More information about the special celebration following the May 5 performance is here.
