FreakNik Festival Coming Back To Atlanta This Summer

FreakNik is slated to return to the metro area this summer, but with a new name and longer schedule.
The festival is now called “F.R.E.A.K. World,” which stands for “Fearlessly Reliving & Embracing Atlanta’s Kulture,” according to its website. After 9 Partners Production is planning for the adult-only event to last three days, from June 19 to 21 at Cascade Driving Range.
The renaming of the fest comes after last year’s resurrection of FreakNik, which was an event that started as a college picnic then grew to gain attention as a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s.
Last June, Carlos Neal, with After 9, brought the festival to the Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood to a crowd of more than 18,000 attendees, according to the website.
The upcoming event is being billed as “more than a concert” by including art, food trucks and car shows in the programming.
More than 40 artists are planned to perform, based on information on the website. Some of the musicians that are on the lineup include rapper Juvenile and 2 Live Crew, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Three-day general admission “Blind” tickets can currently be bought online for $39.
