The Fulton County Board of Education will soon have to decide on the fate of Parklane Elementary in East Point and Spalding Drive Elementary in Sandy Springs.
Just days ago, a majority of the board members voted in favor to move forward with proposals to close both schools. The board cites the pending closures are based on dwindling enrollment projections and school conditions. Fulton County School District Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has also cited costs, saying the district is spending $7,000 per student.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” WABE Southside reporter DorMiya Vance, who has been reporting on the movement to stop the school closures, talked with show host Rose Scott about the latest.
