Georgia Democrats said Tuesday they see renewed hope for statewide policing reform following Gov. Nathan Deal’s appointment of a task force on the issue.

At a hearing they listed legislation that failed to pass last year: HB 1045, a measure to require more use of force training, and SB 46, a measure to make body cameras mandatory statewide, amongst others.

Clayton County Democratic Rep. Sandra Scott said Deal’s interest might change things next year.
