Georgia hospitals silent on deadline for staff to be fully-vaccinated against COVID-19

Oct. 1 was the deadline for some Georgia healthcare workers to get vaccinated or risk being terminated. However, the hospitals imposing the mandate have mostly been silent about details.

The deadline for thousands of Georgia health care workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 — or risk losing their jobs — came and went last Friday. Piedmont, Wellstar and Emory health systems were among those that told employees if they didn’t roll up their sleeves, they risked being fired.

Now, Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Ariel Hart tells WABE’s “All Things Considered” those hospitals are not providing clear answers on how many employees have left, or been terminated.
