Dennis Velez is a theme park enthusiast. Growing up, he was always interested in tinkering with objects and building things with Legos.
Fast-forward to now: Velez is a 2025 graduate of Georgia Tech. While working toward his degree in mechanical engineering, he joined Georgia Tech’s Theme Park Engineering Design Club. He earned the nickname “safety guy” because of his interest and passion in design and his desire to ensure theme parks are safe.
For Closer Look’s 2025 graduation series, Velez spoke with show host Rose Scott about his academic journey, his experiences at Georgia Tech and his aspirations for the future.
