According to the Kaiser Family FoundationExternal, children between the ages of 8-18 spend an average of 7.5 hours in front of a digital screen each day.

Over the course of a year, that’s a total of 114 days watching a screen for entertainment.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jody Baumstein, a licensed therapist for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s  Strong4Life team, told program host Rose Scott that humans are hardwired for connection and explained the difference between online connections versus social connections.

During the conversation, Baumstein also discussed the impact too much screen time can have on children.
