GSU professor urges quick action to address deepfake technology

Deepfake audio of President Joe Biden was used during the recent New Hampshire primary to mislead voters. Deepfake technology is manipulating artificial images, recorded audio clips and videos.

Recently, the Federal Communication Commission banned unsolicited artificial intelligence robocalls. This all comes as Georgia lawmakers are now considering a bill to make deepfake solicitation illegal during election cycles.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Georgia State professor and generative AI expert Arun Rai discussed how AI tech is being used to spread misinformation and what’s next to combat the activity.
