Guide To New Year’s Eve Events In Metro Atlanta

A new year is on its way, and there’s still time to celebrate 2017 and remember its highs and lows.

The city of Atlanta will be bursting with a variety of New Year’s celebrations and 2017 reaches its final days. Here are seven of those events below.

Outdoor  

Peach Drop

The annual Peach Drop is an Atlanta tradition. A city spokesperson confirmed to Channel 2 Action News Dec. 13 that the Peach Drop will be at Woodruff Park instead of Underground Atlanta. In the past, the tradition has drawn more than 100,000 celebrators, according to peachdrop.com.

Kid-Friendly 

Kid’s Early New Year’s Eve Celebration At Stone Mountain

Time: 8:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Cost: Same as general park admission and parking.

Stone Mountain’s Christmas event will continue until Jan. 3, but on New Year’s Eve, Stone Mountain will host a special celebration for the kids who can’t stay up all night. A countdown will begin at 8:59 p.m. There will be costumed characters, music, dance-a-longs, fireworks and more.

Noon Year’s Eve At Fernbank Museum

Time: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cost: General Admission is $8 for members and $20 for non-members, for all adults, children and senior citizens.

A countdown will take place at noon and thousands of balloons will drop from the ceiling of the museum’s Great Hall. There will also be a DJ, dancing, giant bubble blowing, treats and games.

New Year’s Bubble Bash At Children’s Museum of Atlanta 

Times: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost: Tickets are $8 for members and $18 for non-members and will not be sold at the door.

There will be two different countdowns for the kids. One will be at noon, and the other will take place at 4 p.m. A DJ will perform at the Bubble Bash, which will feature games, fireworks, confetti, bubble wrap and more.

Music And Dance

Queen And Tom Petty Tribute At The Strand Theater

Time: 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Cost: Before Dec. 25, tickets are $35 and $40 Dec. 25 and afterward.

In the heart of Marietta, the Georgia Players Guild will play a tribute to Queen and Tom Petty at the Earl Smith Strand Theater. The concert will honor the musical legends while starting off the new year.

Dance Hall Decatur

Time: 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Cost: Before Dec. 29, tickets are $40 adults who are members, $55 for adults who are not members and $15 for people under 21 years old. Starting Dec. 29 at noon, the prices rise by $10.

The DeKalb History Center in downtown Decatur will be hosting a New Year’s Eve extravaganza featuring favorite dance hits and a champagne toast at midnight. Every guest gets two drink tickets, party favors and other refreshments. Additional drinks will be available for purchase.

NYE Live! At The Battery Atlanta

Time: 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Cost: $85 for the Gold Package and $120 Platinum Package

Admission includes access to four bars, food on both levels of The Battery Atlanta, live music, DJ performances and party favors. A 30-foot-wide LED screen will show the Times Square Ball Drop at the midnight countdown with champagne toasts.
