Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport says an unidentified “petroleum-based product” has been located at the base of the airport where the Flint River emerges from under the airport.
In an email shared with WABE by the Flint Riverkeeper, the airport’s Planning and Environmental Division contacted partners and water utilities on Wednesday afternoon.
It said an unidentified petroleum-based product was observed near the base of the airport in the area where the Flint River daylights, upstream of the Forest Parkway Bridge.
