Rick Gundling, the senior vice president of professional practice with the Healthcare Financial Management Association, says the adaption of artificial intelligence in health care is growing and becoming more common.

This shift comes as several health insurance companies are accused of using artificial intelligence to reject a massive number of claims — some as quick as 1.2 seconds. The shift has also intensified the push-and-pull battle between the insurance companies and the healthcare providers who say they’re fighting for their patients to get the treatment they need.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” we begin a two-day series focusing on AI and insurance claims. Show host Rose Scott talks with Gundling about the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the actions he says insurance companies and healthcare providers should take.
