The recent tragedy of fires in southern California revealed the power of nature at its most devastating, following terrible events in 2024, a year that also had widespread natural disasters.
In Georgia, many residents are connected to friends and family who experienced the overwhelming destruction of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. A new interactive exhibition can help us learn more about these phenomena, the natural cycles and imbalances that can bring them to pass, and what we can do to meet the challenges that might lie ahead.
“Fury: The Power of Nature” is on view at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville through January 2026. “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with curatorial coordinator Rebecca Melsheimer about the interactive exhibit.
