A film in town this week chronicles some of the stories of the more than 10,000 Jewish individuals who fought on both sides of the Civil War.

Jewish Soldiers in Blue and Gray, a documentary told largely through photographs, letters, and other archival documents, screens at the Atlanta Cyclorama on Thursday, August 8th.

WABE’s John Lemley spoke with filmmaker Jonathan Gruber about his film, as well as the stories surrounding the Jewish experience of this era. Gruber began by talking about one startling misconception.
