The greater Atlanta area has a thriving music community; North Fulton County is a fine example.

The Johns Creek Symphony is comprised entirely of professional musicians. The orchestra was founded in 2007 by its conductor and longtime music director, J. Wayne Baughman, who passed away in November. A concert honoring his memory, “Celebrating the Maestro,” will be performed on May 4 at Johns Creek United Methodist Church.

“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with conductor John Morrison and violinist Adelaide Federici about the concert.

“He [Baughman] enjoyed an enormous amount of consistency as a result of his character and his musical example,” said Morrison. Federici added, “Like raising a child, he’s imparted all of the wisdom that he can, and now it’s their time to go off for whatever’s next for them.”
