A school built during segregation to give Black kids in the South a quality education will now become a museum and community center.

Officials with the City of Jonesboro and Clayton County Public Schools have unveiled their efforts to preserve the history and the building of the Jonesboro Rosenwald School.

“This day has been a long time coming. The Rosenwald School is not just a building; it’s a living testament to the power of education, equity, and legacy,” said Clayton County Commission Board Chair Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry.
