A judge has cleared the way for a criminal case against the Trump Organization and its former chief financial officer to move ahead in October in state court in New York.

The case has the potential to shine a bright light on the business practices of former President Trump, through internal company records that Trump fought hard to keep secret.

In the first public courtroom proceeding in this case in almost a year, Judge Juan Merchan denied multiple defense motions to dismiss the case and ordered jury selection to begin Oct. 24.
