Atlanta’s dance scene is vibrant and eclectic, and we are honored to highlight some of the many local dancers that move us with their movements in our ongoing series “Speaking of Dance.” This edition highlights dancer and choreographer Billy J. Hawkains III in Kennesaw, Georgia.

“The area of dance that I study is called release technique,” says Hawkains. “Release technique focuses on a number of things: breathing, muscle relaxation, anatomical considerations and the use of gravity and momentum to facilitate efficient movement.”
