Lois Reitzes bids a fond farewell to 'City Lights'

Four people in WABE studio

After more than 45 years at WABE, Lois Reitzes hosted her final episode of “City Lights” ahead of her retirement.

In a special live broadcast from WABE’s Studio 4, Reitzes is joined by “City Lights” producers Kim Drobes and Summer Evans, as they share heartfelt memories and celebrate her legacy as Atlanta’s foremost champion of Arts and Culture.

Joining her in the studio was trumpeter and band leader Joe Gransden, composer of the “City Lights” theme music, who performed the theme live. Also calling into the program were former WABE vice president of radio Christine Dempsey, Broadway star Shuler Hensley and journalist and author Faith Salie. The show closed with Reitzes’ final sign-off in which she shared her appreciation for her listeners.

This program was also broadcast as a live video stream, which you can watch below. The video stream begins with a farewell interview by “Closer Look” host Rose Scott.
