Mailchimp Launches Online Directory Allowing Employees To Sell Goods, Services

A Mailchimp employee who also runs her own natural hair care line says she’s thankful to work for a company that supports her entrepreneurial dreams.
“I’m getting to see Mailchimp from both sides. Like I understand what it’s like to be a user of Mailchimp, and then I also understand what it’s like on the other side being a technician of Mailchimp,” said Kyra Young, a customer support technician at Mailchimp and the CEO and founder of Kyra’s Shea Medleys.
Young is one of the many Mailchimp employees who sell goods and services to other employees through the company’s internal online directory Freddie’s Marketplace.
Both Young and Ashley Wilson, a senior producer of employee experience at Mailchimp, joined Friday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
The Mailchimp employees talked with show host Rose Scott about what it’s like to work for a company that values creativity, the history of Freddie’s Makers Market and how the Atlanta-based company expanded the initiative into Freddie’s Marketplace during the COVID-19 pandemic.
