Mayor Reed Announces Piedmont Park Expansion

The cost of the land to expand Piedmont Park is $20 million. Reed says the city plans to close on the property in the next three months.

The city of Atlanta is expanding Piedmont Park. This afternoon, outgoing Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed announced that city officials agreed just last night to buy about 3.5 acres on the corner of Monroe Drive and Piedmont Avenue.

The parcel includes the current site of many businesses – including Hob Nob Neighborhood Tavern, Varuni Napoli Pizza and a Shell gas station.

The cost of the land is $20 million. Reed says the city plans to close on the property in the next three months.
